About
Made with smoke, patience,
and a small hot pen.

Abe picked up his first wood-burning pen at a flea market about a decade ago. What started as something to do on quiet evenings has slowly turned into a daily practice.
Every piece in the gallery is drawn freehand on the wood with a soft pencil, then burned line by line with a small, very hot pen. There are no transfers, no laser cuts, no stencils. The wood decides a lot — a knot, a swirl, a soft patch of grain — and the design follows.
Boards are chosen locally when possible: basswood, birch, maple, walnut and pine. After burning, each piece is finished with a hand-rubbed coat of food-safe oil and beeswax. Nothing plastic, nothing that hides the wood.
